Nesprus has been a dedicated member of the Chalice staff team for seven years, working as the accountant for our Madurai sponsor site in India.

Chalice critical needs - Heart surgery, recovery and COVID-19 treatment for Nesprus, IndiaHe oversees the sponsorship funding and the financial activities of the family circle groups. He is 51 years old.

In March of 2021, Nesprus suffered heart pain and underwent open heart surgery to remove three blockages. His surgical wound did not heal properly at first, and he required re-stitching. His digestive system also reacted badly to the heavy antibiotics he was prescribed, which in turn required treatment. Shortly after this series of challenges, Nesprus tested positive for COVID-19, and again required hospitalization for nine days.

The Madurai site staff were glad to have Nesprus return to work in July, but the financial impact of his medical crisis remains pressing. Nesprus was able to offset some costs through health insurance but faces $1,669.75 CAD of outstanding bills, an amount posing a great strain on his modest resources. His colleagues at the Madurai site have requested assistance to repay their colleague's bills, so he can focus on his recovery and his important work.
