Aurora is a mother and grandmother living near our Arica sponsor site in Chile.
She lives with her husband, Yerko, who has a small pension but is facing a serious health condition. She also lives with her adult daughter, Yerrika and her two toddlers. Yerrika has lost her job due to the pandemic.
Aurora supports her growing family as a craftswoman, which is why an injury to her hand is a cause of great distress. Her work with scissors and tools has caused an inflammation of the sheath surrounding her finger tendon, immobilizing it in a painful bent position. Her doctors diagnosed stenosing tenosynovitis, and she requires immediate rehabilitative therapy, or she is at risk of long-term loss of mobility in her finger. This would be a severe impediment for her ability to work.
Aurora is a dedicated volunteer at the Arica sponsor site. They have requested on her behalf the $595.82 CAD Aurora would need to receive 20 physiotherapy sessions and to see an orthopedic specialist.
