Ihor is 12 years old and lives with his parents, Nadiya and Yuriy.

Chalice critical needs - surgery for Ihor, UkraineWhen he was two, Ihor was diagnosed with a rare disorder called Klippel-Trenaunay-Weber syndrome, which affects the development of his blood vessels, veins, and soft tissues, particularly around his right leg. His leg did not grow as long as his left leg. He needs to always wear a compression sock. His parents struggled to afford Ihor's daily needs in addition to his medical needs, and he has been sponsored through the Ternopil site since 2011. Since that time, he has had 12 surgeries.

In May 2020, Ihor required an operation that was not available in Ukraine, so he was flown to Germany to receive the specialized procedure. It was believed to be his last surgery, but he developed a venous ulcer on his right foot. It was extremely painful, especially to walk on, and Ihor could not go to school. A teacher came to his house so that he could continue his studies. A local surgeon was able to treat the pus around the ulcer, but to have it cured, Ihor needs to return to Germany for another operation.

Nadiya and Yuriy have raised more than €11,000 with the help of volunteers, friends, family, and local charities. The Ternopil sponsor site has requested the outstanding amount, $5,973.03 CAD, for Ihor to receive the surgery in Germany.
