Rosely is 11 years old and lives with her parents and four siblngs near our Luis Amigo sponsor site in Guatemala.

Chalice critical needs - medical treatment for Rosely, BoliviaHer parents, Donal and Rubí, struggle to meet the needs of their family with their income as fishers, and they are grateful for Rosely's Chalice sponsor.

In May, Rosely stopped eating because she felt nauseous and feverish. She also had headaches and diarrhea. Her family doctor referred her to the pediatric oncologist. After extensive testing, young Rosely has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, which attacks the white blood cells and can spread quickly.

Rosely needed the best care, urgently, and the public hospital was overrun. So, her family, in consultation with the Luis Amigo site staff, admitted her to a private hospital, where she could receive the critical procedures and medications, including transfusions and antibiotics. While this decision was best for her health, it also incurred medical costs that are beyond Donal and Rubí's minimal income.

Rosely will be transferred back to the public pediatric oncology unit for her long-term treatment, which will take one to two years. The family will not have to pay for this public healthcare.

The Luis Amigo sponsor site has requested $3,355.65 CAD to pay Rosely's emergency private hospitalization costs. This includes her medications, consultations, hospital fees, tests, and ambulance.
