Project Type: Health
Project Code: HHS0121
Background: Rigaud is a third-year seminarian with of the Diocese of Jérémie, in Haiti and is studying to be a priest with the Missionaries of the Annunciation-Sowers of Hope.
Chalice is partnered with the Missionaries of the Annunciation-Sowers of Hope through our Haiti South under the direction of Br. Marcelin Henri.
When he was just a ten-year-old boy he suffered an accidental injury to his groin when playing basketball with friends that left him in much pain. Ten years later he required surgery to try and alleviate his suffering but was still left with recurring pain.
Last year the pain became significantly worse and he went to a doctor who diagnosed him with renal lithiasis (a disease caused by kidney stones.) He was referred to a urologist.
Last week he finally was able to see the urologist and was told he needs another operation which will require him to stay in Port au Prince for two months to receive follow-up care. The surgery, follow-up care, medication, food and lodging for two months will cost $3,688.45 and is far beyond the means of Rigaud and his family to pay.
The Haiti South sponsor site director is asking Chalice to help Rigaud pay for this critical surgery so he can finally live without pain, resume his studies, and fulfill his dream of serving his community as a priest.
Funding Request: $3,688.45
Please note that any donations that exceed the request will be used to fund other critical need emergencies that may arise.
