Background: Grace works as the Regional Accountant at our regional office in Nairobi, Kenya.

Chalice critical needs - medical expenses for Grace and baby Kesswan, KenyaShe and her husband learned that they were expecting their fourth child as the COVID pandemic escalated and the economic impact struck hard in Nairobi. The growing young family struggled to keep up as the pandemic caused the cost of living to skyrocket.

Grace’s expected due date passed on December 12 and she finally went into labour on December 26. By the time she reached the hospital, the doctors recommended an emergency c-section. Her new baby boy, Keshawn, showed difficulty breathing and needed to be put on a ventilator. After three days of treatment, Grace and her husband knew they could not afford the mounting hospital bills and opted for outpatient care.

Grace and her husband could not have foreseen this crisis and cannot afford both Grace and baby Keshawn’s medical expenses, even after insurance. Our Chalice Region Office have humbly requested help from Chalice in the amount of $1,125.60 to help this couple cover the cost of the emergency c-section and the life-saving neonatal intervention for Keshawn.
