Mahalakshmi pesticide inhalation, Kerala, India

Mahalakshmi, 39, was exposed to pesticides during her regular cleaning duties. The area had been subjected to continuous pesticide spraying for three days due to an increased mosquito presence. Mahalakshmi experienced severe symptoms including vomiting and difficulty in breathing. Her co-workers promptly took her to a nearby hospital.

Mahalakshmi was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital and placed on a ventilator. She stayed under close medical supervision for six days. Her doctors discharged her in stable health.

The medical expenses amounted to $3,494.43 CAD, and the family was unable to meet these costs on their own.

Understanding the family's financial situation, Mahalakshmi’s Chalice family circle recommended her for critical needs support. The support will cover her bed fees, blood tests, diet, doctor’s fees, nursing charges, physiotherapy, pharmacy, diagnostic scans, and ancillary hospitalization charges.
