Seven-year-old Angel has congenital neurological challenges that present as weakness on the whole left side of his body, making walking and running difficult. He also has strabismus in his left eye (the eye is not aligned in focus with the right). Angel's difficulties are the result of a premature birth and complicated delivery.
Angel's doctors need to conduct an MRI to better understand and treat his conditions. But before they can do the scan, they must be sure that he is not allergic to the medication and anaesthesia he would take during the procedure. So, they must do allergy testing first.
Angel's mother is 26 years old and a single mother of three. She has a job in fast food to support her children on her own and is thankful for Angel's Chalice sponsor. Even so, the cost of the allergy test and MRI will be $543.84 CAD, which is far beyond her limited income. The CMAVIL sponsor site has therefore requested the medical expenses on the family's behalf.
The results of these diagnostic images will help Angel's doctors plan his future treatment and determine the best ways to help him develop, grow, and thrive as an active little boy.
