Bird is a single father, and the brother of one of our Haiti South staff members. He was in a serious accident and broke his arm in two places. Bird, 34, was hit by a motorcycle during 5 o’clock traffic in Jérémie. He was quickly transported to the nearest hospital, but it did not have the necessary equipment to perform the operation. 

Bird was therefore transferred to Les Cayes, a city 100 km south of his home. He was hospitalized for several days after the accident.

Bird’s emergency has incurred bills of $3,205.54 CAD, which includes the cost of his surgery, his emergency orthopedic consultation, X-rays, hemogram, medication as well as a small amount for transportation to and from Les Cayes. These fees are beyond the single father’s humble means, and that of his family, and so the Haiti South team has requested assistance on his behalf.
