His parents struggled to provide for him and his siblings, and were grateful when a Chalice sponsor began supporting his studies when he was in grade one.
Nesly, now 16, was unwell in December 2021, but his parents worried a trip to the hospital would be too expensive. His health deteriorated, and his relative went to the Haiti North sponsor site office to ask for help. The site staff ensured that Nesly got to the hospital immediately, where the doctors saw that he had lost a considerable amount of weight, had lost blood, and his liver was failing.
Sadly, after two days of emergency treatment, Nesly succumbed to his illness and died.
His hospitalization and medication incurred bills amounting to $737.93 CAD, beyond Nesly's bereaved family's means. The Haiti North site staff have placed a request on their behalf to cover his bills, so his family can mourn in peace.
