Background: The Cerebral Palsy Unit at the M Primary School in Nairobi, Kenya has 35 students with cerebral palsy.

Chalice community project - M Primary School Cerebral Palsy Unit, NairobiThe children have low reading scores because of learning disabilities, such as attention deficit disorder and dyslexia.

The children supported by this unit are in need of more medical equipment and learning materials. Access to better facilities will improve their reading skills, motor skills and general behaviour.

The unit is very grateful for the support from donors of the Chalice gift catalogue which has provided sports balls, medical equipment and learning materials for the children. These items have had a great impact on these needy children, improving their daily lives both at school and at home. With additional support, the school will continue to improve the learning environment for these vulnerable children.

Project Objective: The main goal of this project is to provide the Cerebral Palsy Unit with medical equipment, learning materials including toys and physiotherapy services to help students. This equipment will motivate learners to attend school regularly and the physiotherapy services will help them improve their motor skills. This rehabilitation equipment will help the special learners to improve their reading and comprehension skills.
