Photo Friday: Our top 5 “baby” photos!

Welcome to Photo Friday! Each Friday, we share photo collections of our favourite shots from our sponsor sites around the world.

Among the littlest of our beneficiaries (and the cutest) are babies and toddlers. New moms living in poverty stricken areas are often left struggling to find the essentials needed to raise their children. Sponsorship and other projects and programs give families the hand-up they need to give their babies a healthy, happy start to life.

This week, we’re sharing our top 5 “baby” photos from our sites! These precious photos showcase all sorts of adorable babies and their caretakers. We hope you enjoy this sweet collection!

#5: Support from Sisters

Sr. Amala, the site director for our Madurai site in India visits a mom and her newborn in the maternity unit of a hospital in Batlagandu, which is located right next to the Sisters of the Cross of Chavanod convent. Mom and baby seem to be doing wonderful, thanks to the great care they received!

#4: Comforting quilt

New mom Nadia got a surprise visit from a Chalice staff member, Kate, during our Solidarity Tour to Paraguay. Before she departed, Kate’s mother, an avid quilter, stocked her suitcase with lap quilts and one baby quilt. When Kate found out she was going to meet little Enzo, she knew who the quilt was meant for! Nadia is a medical student who has overcome her own challenges with the help of her mother and Chalice sponsor. What a touching gift from Canada!

#3: Munching on mangoes

Judjelca and her baby brother live near our Haiti North site with their family. They’re sharing one of their favourite snacks ever; a big, juicy mango! In Haiti, fruit is abundant and easy to grow. Some moms in the community have even started their own jam businesses using local fruit, which they can sell and use the profits to purchase more protein rich foods and other necessities for their children.

#2: Pretty in pink

Mom Rosaline and little Shane live near our Tondo site in the Philippines. Shane’s going to grow up with three older brothers and sisters to look out for her! Rosaline’s a hardworking mother, and cooks breakfasts to sell each day to make a living.

#1: Check-up time!

These health workers from our Pochaiv site in Ukraine are providing a medical checkup to this adorable little lad through a medical mobile clinic. Their mission is to provide health care to rural residents without the need for them to travel far distances into the city, and to provide early diagnosis and treatment of more complex issues.
