Syam lives with his parents and his two brothers in a one-room cement structure in Nellore, India. He is in grade four at St. Joseph School and his best subject is Math. His favourite activities are drawing pictures and playing cricket with his friends. At home, he helps with all the household chores. Syam would like to become a teacher someday. His parents are daily-wage labourers, struggling to provide the needs of their family. At the Nellore Sponsor Site, the Sisters of the Cross of Chavanod assist people living with HIV/AIDS, those with special needs, those who have dropped out of school, and people from tribal communities. The Sisters strive to provide a high quality education and access to programs that address special needs.
