Manasi lives with her parents in a one-room cement structure in Nellore, India. She is attending pre-kindergarten class at the government school, where she likes learning rhymes. She loves playing active running games with her friends. Manasi is in overall good health, but suffers from impaired hearing. She uses sign language to communicate. Manasi thinks she would like to become a teacher when she grows up. Her parents work hard, but are struggling to provide the family's basic needs. At the Nellore Sponsor Site, the Sisters of the Cross of Chavanod assist people living with HIV/AIDS, those with special needs, those who have dropped out of school, and those from tribal communities. The Sisters strive to provide a high quality education and access to programs that address special needs.
