Twelve members of Andriy's family share a four-room wooden house in the Ternopil region of western Ukraine. Andriy, his parents and his two brothers, live with his grandparents, his uncle, two aunts and two cousins, in impoverished, overcrowded conditions. Andriy is in grade five and his favourite subject is Physical Education. At home he is responsible for looking after his younger brothers. Andriiy's parents are unable to find permanent work, and are struggling to care for their family. Andriy dreams of becoming a professional soccer player someday.
